The Journey That Gave Birth to the Dollar Wise Club

That quote hit me like a punch the first time I heard it in one of those cinematic scenes about the American market. And it never left my mind.

But this story started long before that.

⚔️ The Call to Adventure

For years, I worked, saved, studied — doing what many Brazilians do: trying to protect what I had built. Over time, I began to realize that keeping all my money tied to a volatile, unstable system subject to questionable political decisions wasn’t a great idea.

That’s when I first heard about the so-called "dollarization".

“Invest in dollars!”, they said. But no one ever explained how to do it without falling into traps.

🧱 The First Obstacles

I dove into this world with enthusiasm, but quickly ran into:

Confusing platforms
Hidden fees
Shallow or overly technical content
And that constant feeling that they were trying to sound complex on purpose

On top of that, I saw a lot of content riding the hype, selling illusions instead of delivering clarity.

That’s when frustration kicked in. And a question followed: "Am I the pig?"

🧭 Meeting the Mentor

At that point, I turned back to something that always guided me: data.

I used my academic background — I hold a Master’s degree in Economics from UFJF — my market experience — having worked as a trader and investment advisor at major firms in Brazil — and my Python skills to build my own analyses. I began to investigate every promise, every “hot” asset, confronting them with data and solid economic theory.

And the more I investigated, the more I saw the gap between talk and reality.

It was like finding a compass in the middle of a storm.

🧨 The Great Illusion: “Dollarizing” with Brazilian Stocks?

At the beginning of my search, I came across a common piece of advice from many so-called “experts”: “Want to invest in dollars? Buy PBR, VALE, BBD.”

It sounded simple… too simple.

But if you take a closer look, these are just ADRs — American Depositary Receipts for Brazilian stocks like Petrobras, Vale, and Bradesco — traded in the U.S.

In other words, the same exposure to Brazilian political, fiscal, and economic risks, now wrapped in a foreign exchange fee and a false sense of safety.

That’s not dollarizing. That’s just switching the language on your brokerage account — while your money remains tied to one of the world’s most unstable markets.

"The self-sabotaging potential of Brazilian politicians is immeasurable." — And that phrase, unfortunately, never gets old.

🌅 The Transformation

That’s when everything changed. I realized that it wasn’t enough to know how to do it. If I truly wanted security, I needed to teach others how to think clearly.

That’s how the Dollar Wise Club was born.
